Alban Nwapa came to Sweden to study dentistry. To pay for his studies he became a DJ at the Stockholm club Alphabet Street, and soon club audiences knew his name.
Later he met Denniz PoP of the SweMix label. With him and rapper Leila K, Alban recorded “Hello Africa”, a song about his Nigerian roots. He added “Dr.” to his name as a nod to the profession he never really pursued. The album One Love, with the hits “It’s My Life” and “One Love”, came out on SweMix in 1992.
