Three bands and a solo career
In 1983 Saltykov sang with the rock band Manufaktura and won the Grand Prix for best vocalist at the first Leningrad Rock Club festival. At the next festival Alexander Nazarov noticed him and invited him to join Forum.
With Forum he recorded the album Belaya noch. Melodiya released it on vinyl in 1987, and within a year sales reached two million copies. The same year Saltykov moved to Elektroklub, where he sang “Ty zamuzh za nego ne vykhodi” and “Koni v yablokakh”. He has been solo since 1990 but still performs Forum’s songs in concert.
