1990: Snap! releases "The Power" - rap, female chorus, 140 BPM. Meanwhile Berlin techno matures: loops, minimal vocals, dance-floor focus. Both grew from house, but Eurodance kept the song while techno abandoned it. Five differences through Snap!, 2 Unlimited, Joey Beltram and Plastikman.
26 April 2026: Disco Magic & valex77 publish “Siren” (Lilac) - 4:31 in Italo Disco and Eurodance styles. The fifth track of the “Forgotten Melody” album, the English version “Lilac” runs two seconds longer. The duo of Alexey Shepelev and Alexander Vorobiev.
February 2025: Julie Bergan releases EURONITES - an EP in the 90s Eurodance formula. Cascada, Lasgo, Nathalie Aarts, MHM, 7dance - fifteen projects releasing fresh Eurodance in the 2020s. Three renaissance factors: TikTok, production accessibility and the collector community.
1988: Sergei Kuznetsov writes "Sedaya Noch" for Yura Shatunov in an Orenburg boarding school. In 2026 Disco Magic & valex77 release a eurodance cover. A comparison of the original and the remix: tempo, bass, kick, vocal and structure. The cover is a translation of the melody into a new genre's language, not a replacement of the original.
1990: in Frankfurt Snap! "accidentally invent Eurodance". The formula crystallises - male rap in the verses, a female melodic vocal in the chorus, a four-on-the-floor kick around 140 BPM. 1993. 2 Unlimited pushed No Limit to the top of the charts, and the genre got its name. Beyond the obvious names - Snap, Culture Beat, Haddaway - stood dozens of projects whose singles sold millions while producers hid behind studio walls.
27 June 1989: The B-52's return after 2 years of silence (Ricky Wilson's AIDS-related death in 1985). #3 Billboard, #2 UK, #1 Australia for 5 weeks. Dreamland Studios, producers Don Was and Nile Rodgers. “Tin roof, rusted” - Cindy Wilson's improv on the last take. RuPaul's MTV debut in the video, $500 fee.
December 1983: Roland ships the TR-909 - a hybrid of analogue synthesis and digital samples. 10,000 units in 18 months and the line is killed as a loss. Ten years later a used unit costs ten times the new price: Frankie Knuckles, Larry Heard, Derrick May pick them up. Roland's flop became the pillar of house and techno.
